J.R.R. Tolkien (Benchmark Test)

Tolkien is one of the best known authors in the world today. He is best known for his books: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, and The Hobbit. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born January 3, 1892, in Bloemfontein, South Africa. He died at 81 on September 2, 1973. I have read The Hobbit, and have started on The Fellowship of the Ring. If you have seen the movie and have not read the book then I recommend it! Tolkien put every thing into these books, he drew very detailed maps of Middle Earth with towns, lakes, rivers, and mountains that never even come into these books. Nobody knows what his inspiration was, be it: WWI, WWII, the final battle of Angels, Devils, and Men, or his own imagination, they are truly some of the greatest fictional books today. He was a veteran of WWI, a friend of C.S. Lewis ( author of The Chronicles of Narnia), and a professor at Oxford.

  1. I have read the books for the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, and I have watched all six of the movies. They are my favorite books and movies of all time. Also Tolkien was partly inspired by his experience in the First World War. And finally when you wrote “Tolkien put every thing into these books,”. “Everything” doesn’t need a space bar.

  2. You forgot to put another book JRR Tolkien wrote, in the same series with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings its The Silmarillion a book about the creation of middle earth man, dwarves, and elves.

    1. It wasn’t a finished work though. It was his son who finished and published the book.

But I must admit that at the time I wrote this I didn’t know about the Silmarillion.

      1. The book isn’t finish, but is like collection of stories knit together about the history of middle earth, its not so detailed like lord of the rings and hobbit, but its still interesting and fun to read

          1. It was recolonize by the dwarves and the old prophecy that during come back came true by Durin the sixth or seventh i forgot who looks like Durin himself. I think it is told in the book of Lord of the rings the section after the book the extra stuff like the languages and cultures and histories and futures.
